Files never leave your browserHow?

Paste or open JSON and get a CSV file you can open in Excel, Google Sheets or a database tool. Nested objects are flattened into columns, and everything runs in your browser.

How it works

  1. Open or paste JSON

Paste JSON, open a .json or .jsonl file, load one from a URL or try the sample. The array to convert is found automatically, for example data.items.

  2. Check the table

The result appears as a table preview and as CSV text. Choose columns, their order, the delimiter and how nested arrays are written.

  3. Download or copy

Download the .csv file or copy the text. CSV → JSON sends the result to the reverse converter.

Features

  • Nested JSON flattening

Objects become dotted columns such as user.address.city. Arrays can become one column per item (tags[0], tags[1]), one column with JSON text, or values joined with a semicolon.

  • Excel-ready presets

Standard CSV (RFC 4180), Excel with a UTF-8 BOM, Excel for Germany, Spain, Portugal and France with semicolons and decimal commas, or tab-separated TSV. Line endings, quoting and the header row are adjustable.

  • Column chooser

Records with different keys share one set of columns. Hide columns or change their order.

  • Safe for spreadsheets

Protect against formulas is on by default: cells starting with = + - or @ get a leading apostrophe, so Excel does not run them as formulas.

  • JSON Lines and big files

JSON Lines (.jsonl, .ndjson) is detected automatically. Large JSON Lines files and top-level arrays are streamed in two passes in a background worker, one record at a time.

Limits & privacy

JSON files can be up to 200 MB. The table preview shows the first 1,000 rows; the downloaded CSV always contains all rows. Files above 5 MB are converted from the file without loading them into the editor, which then shows only the beginning of the file.

Long numbers such as IDs are written exactly as in the source. See the privacy page.

FAQ

How do I convert JSON to CSV?

Paste your JSON or open the file. The CSV is generated as you type; press Download .CSV to save it or Copy to put it on the clipboard.

How do I open JSON to CSV in Excel?

Choose the Excel preset (comma and UTF-8 BOM) or the Excel DE/ES/PT/FR preset if your Excel uses semicolons, then open the downloaded file in Excel. For a real .xlsx file use the JSON to Excel converter.

What happens to nested objects and arrays?

Nested objects become columns with dotted names. For arrays you choose: a column per item, one column with the JSON text, or the values joined with a semicolon.

My JSON has the records inside another object. Can I pick them?

Yes. The largest array of objects is selected automatically, and you can type another path such as results or data.items in Array to convert.

Is this JSON to CSV converter online free?

Yes, it is free and needs no account. It works in any modern browser on desktop and mobile.

Can it convert large JSON files?

Yes. Files are processed in a background worker, and large JSON Lines files or top-level arrays are streamed instead of being loaded at once.
