HTML Tools

HTML is the markup language of every web page. Preview HTML files and snippets safely, edit them with a live preview, and format or minify the code – all in your browser.

Files never leave your browserHow?

What is HTML?

HTML (HyperText Markup Language) describes the structure of a web page with tags such as headings, paragraphs, links, images, tables and forms. Browsers turn that markup into the page you see, with CSS for styling and JavaScript for behaviour. Beyond websites, HTML is used for e-mail newsletters, exported reports, documentation, saved web pages and the output of many tools that “export to HTML”.

Typical tasks

Often you simply have an .html file or a snippet and want to see it rendered without setting up a web server – an e-mail template from a colleague, a report generated by a script, a page saved from the web, or code copied from a tutorial. The HTML Viewer renders it instantly, lets you switch between desktop, tablet and phone widths and shows the highlighted source next to the preview.

Other times the job is to change the code: fix a broken layout, adjust text in a template, try out a CSS rule or prepare a snippet for a CMS. The HTML Editor gives you autocomplete for tags and attributes, auto-closing, a live preview, an HTML formatter that re-indents messy markup, a minifier that strips whitespace and comments, and a check for unclosed tags. When you are done, download the file or copy the code.

If your document is written in Markdown rather than HTML, the Markdown Viewer renders it and can export a standalone HTML page.

Private and safe by design

Everything happens in your browser. Files are not uploaded, and there is no account. HTML from untrusted sources is shown in an isolated sandbox: in Safe mode scripts and event handlers are removed before rendering, and even with scripts turned on the preview runs in a separate origin without access to this site, its storage or your other tabs. You decide whether external images, styles and scripts referenced by the page may load, and you can block them all with one switch.

FAQ

How do I open an HTML file to see what it looks like?

Open the HTML Viewer, choose the .html file or drop it on the page, or paste the code. The page is rendered right away in an isolated preview, with desktop, tablet and phone widths.

Is it safe to preview HTML from an unknown source?

By default the viewer runs in Safe mode, which removes scripts and event handlers. If you turn scripts on, the page runs in a sandboxed frame that cannot reach this site or your data.

Should I use the HTML Viewer or the HTML Editor?

Use the viewer to look at an existing page or e-mail template. Use the editor when you want to change the code and watch the result update, then format, minify and download it.

Are my HTML files uploaded anywhere?

No. Files are read and rendered by your own browser. Formatting and minifying run in a background worker on your device.

Do the tools work without installing anything?

Yes. They are web pages that work in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on desktop and mobile.
