Files never leave your browserHow?

Write Markdown on the left and see the formatted result on the right as you type. Your draft is kept in this browser, and you can download it as .md, HTML or PDF.

How it works

  1. Write or open Markdown

Start typing, paste text, drop a .md file or load the sample. The toolbar and shortcuts insert bold, italic, links, headings, lists, code and tables.

  2. Check the live preview

The preview renders GitHub-flavored Markdown with highlighted code, math and diagrams, and scrolls together with the editor.

  3. Save your work

Download the .md file, export a standalone HTML page or save a PDF with Print / PDF. A draft stays in this browser until you clear it.

Features

  • Split view with synchronized scrolling

Editor and preview side by side on desktop, Write and Preview tabs on phones. Scrolling one side keeps the other on the same section.

  • Formatting toolbar and shortcuts

Bold (Ctrl+B), italic (Ctrl+I), link (Ctrl+K), code (Ctrl+E), strikethrough, headings, bulleted, numbered and task lists, quotes and a table template. Every change can be undone with Ctrl+Z.

  • Autosaved draft

Documents up to 1 MB are saved in your browser’s local storage while you type and restored when you come back. One click clears the draft.

  • GitHub-flavored Markdown

Tables, task lists, footnotes, autolinks, alerts, KaTeX math and Mermaid diagrams, with a strict CommonMark mode.

  • Clean exports

The HTML export is one file with inline styles and no scripts; formulas and diagrams are included as rendered.

Limits & privacy

Documents can be up to 10 MB; editor highlighting is used up to 2 MB, larger texts are edited as plain text while the preview still renders. The draft is kept for documents up to 1 MB; with two tabs open, the last saved draft wins.

Raw HTML is sanitized and the preview runs in an isolated sandbox. Remote images load from their own servers; you can block them. See the privacy page.

FAQ

Is this Markdown editor free?

Yes. It is free, needs no account and works in any modern browser on desktop and mobile.

Where is my text saved?

Only in your browser. The draft is stored in local storage on this device and is never uploaded. Use Clear draft to remove it, or turn autosave off.

How do I save my Markdown as a file?

Click Download .md. Set the file name first in the File name field. To share a formatted version, use Download HTML or Print / PDF.

Does it support GitHub Flavored Markdown?

Yes: tables, task lists, strikethrough, autolinks, footnotes and GitHub alerts. Choose CommonMark in the Syntax menu to see how strict parsers will render your text.

How do I add a table?

Click Table in the toolbar to insert a template, then edit the cells. Colons in the separator row align columns, for example | :---: |.

Can I write math formulas and diagrams?

Yes. Write LaTeX between $ signs for inline math or between $$ for a block, and put Mermaid code in a ```mermaid block for flowcharts and sequence diagrams.

Does the editor keep working if my connection drops?

Editing, preview and export run locally, so a dropped connection does not lose your text. Math, diagrams and some code languages are downloaded on first use; a full offline mode is not available yet.
